Without change – no progress, no development…

Growth is a team effort

Growth is a team effort. Change is too. However, as someone insightfully said…”Change has a bad reputation in our society. But that isn’t all bad – not by any means. In fact, change is necessary in life – to keep us moving… to keep us growing… to keep us interested. Imagine life without change. It would be static… boring… dull.”

With globalization, new technology and changing customer behavior the pace of change has increased. With that, the need for transformative change and renewal within companies and organizations has become a huge challenge. Research however shows that 70 percent of all change projects within companies fail to reach set targets.

Remember your team in the change process

A change is not just about innovation, structure, savings or new reporting lines, but about changing people’s attitudes, behavior and skills to do things differently – and preferably better – compared to how they were before the change. Hence, it is all about your team.

Our experience is that change initiatives – big and small – often create a lot of anxiety among employees. Anxiety that lowers productivity, creativity and motivation – and even increases sick leave. Even though change may be completely necessary for the long term wellbeing of an organization or department, change is often experienced as undesirable for those who are affected in their everyday work environment and need to learn new things, or even move their whole family to another city or country.

Involving team members in the change process is one of the relatively few measures shown to reduce negative stress among employees in a change process. It helps to provide an understanding, meaning, as well as clearer sense of context. It does not stop negative reactions from coming, but it makes the process easier to deal with for everyone involved.

We help our clients on the change journey by creating a clearer context, thru gathering insights creating a sense of urgency and involving team members in the ideation and development process.  Contact us if you are interested in knowing more.
